Irek Dudek had a six-month episode with the band in the early 1970s. He had known Józef Skrzek for ages, he had already collaborated with the drummer Jerzy Piotrowski before: first in the band Kolorowi and later in a group founded in Silesian design office Bibromet (where Piotrowski was the head of the company's radio and had a large rehearsal room), playing British hits during popular dance events.

The Quartet Silesian Blues Band with Dudek in the composition (as harmonica player and second vocalist) can be listened to in the set "Lost Tapes vol.2, Studio & Live Recordings 1971 – 1979." The first of the nine discs included their version of the famous "I'm Going Home" Ten Years After and three of their own compositions: "Hat", "Go-go'łowiec" and "Swingulec" (from the concert in the club "Elektromontaż"). 

Apokalipsa

One of the most underrated Polish rock bands. The musicians were unlucky: they found a disastrous period for this genre in Polish phonography. Edward Gierek's commies team preferred to promote pop and disco in media, which better matched the propaganda of success, than the performances of long-haired rebels.


Apokalipsa were established in Katowice in 1973 on the initiative of Ireneusz Dudek and guitarist Maciej Radziejewski (ex-group of Czesław Niemen). In addition, the band consisted of Krystian Wilczek (bass, vocals) and Marek Surzyn (drums). The band played strong blues rock, but also vented their fascination with jazz rock band Mahavishnu Orchestra. Jan Borysewicz (now the leader of Lady Pank – one the most popular Polish rock groups)  played a significant role in the later – more classical rock-oriented – lineup.

Apokalipsa were a real concert sensation at the time, but unfortunately there was no studio album or even an official single or EP. She left behind only four recordings, recorded in 1976 for Polish Radio Poznań: „Ta Duda”, „Daj Mi Znać”, „Hej Ucieka Czas”, „Bieg Ku Promieniom Słońca”. They were waiting for the release three decades - appeared on one of the albums of the set "Irek Dudek Anthology 1976-2006".

Irjan

The name of the band was a cluster of the names of its founders: Ireneusz Dudek (vocals, harmonica, violin) and Jan Janowski (vocals, acoustic guitar, harmonica, drumla, kazoo). The duo started in 1977. After a few months, bassist Andrzej Nowicki joined the lineup. The band regularly performed at blues and rock festivals (including Pop Session in Sopot, Folk-Blues Meeting, Jesień z Bluesem) and in student clubs. However, he failed to release the album, and recorded only a few of the song for the radio.

Irjan reached for the songs of blues masters and played his own songs with the texts of the poet Józef Andrzej Grochowina. He also used the texts of Jerzy Harasymowicz and Maciej Zembaty. After jan Janowski's departure in 1979, Irek Dudek didn't give up the Irjan brand and created an "electric" version of this combo, which recorded four compositions for Polish Radio Opole: „Ballada o paproci”, „Daj mi znać” (taken from the repertoire of Apokalipsa), „Czaszka bluesa”  i „Ciąży mi moja pieśń”.

Irjan finally disbanded in 1980.

The Dudi's

In the mid-1980s, Irek Dudek gained enormous popularity thanks to the pastiche incarnation of Shakin' Dudi. He could discount the success of subsequent recordings under this banner, but he decided to go against the tide and ... he formed a new group (although still with Darek Dusza by his side). In 1987, The Dudi's released their first (and unfortunately the only one) album. Musically, this stuff was a return to the first fascinations of Irek Dudek – British rock of the sixties. You can hear the influences of The Animals, the early Rolling Stones and a few other bands from the British Invasion circle. Hit compositions, characteristic lyrics of Darek Dusza – the album had the potential to repeat the success of "Golden Album", but... things happened differently. There was a lack of proper promotion, which was also influenced by the emigration of the group leader to the Netherlands. 

After years, this album is still defending itself. It is also worth looking a bunch of funny music videos to all tunes from the era in which it was made.
